These interior scenes are an extension of 8 by 10 foot sculptures using found object materials decades ago. At the time I had an ongoing series of psychologically charged paintings with sculptured elements about creatures and inspirations from my large collection of fabulous African Masks. The tiniest width of a line meant looking into space backwards in terms of four feet ,or the exact opposite projecting forward .What an incredible sensitivity that I processed at this time. Therefor the wholes or negative spaces contained an emotional impact with a sculpture interacting with a whitish yellow wall meaning a possible void or a flat compression of space -and these could alternately change at random too. Remember Bruce Lee in the hall of mirrors and you can understand the exaggerated implications of my point. What's Cubism about ???? I used the finest oil on this work and ask you to have a nice size surrounding space to enter into this pleasurable endeavor ,namely your and mine. Lastly ,what's real or ....?
