Seeing that I started looking at other artists' self portraits at 12 years old it seemed natural that I started painting mine after that. This is from years later and I still have it in my collection while the richness of the brushstrokes combined with searching out the planar construction of my face made me still cherish this from eons ago as elements of physicality and refinement are still inherent in my art today. With oil color attempt to create a modern self portrait yet still indebted to an artist like Courbet that I admired intensely at the time and enjoy the fascinating journey just like I have. And the striking quality of that green against the warm tones gives such a pleasure .....even when not looking at the work, but in my mind too ! Oil on Canvas with very slight abrasions on the surface -----approximately 20" by 14 " Circa 1976 -1977 This is going to be with the highest quality oil on a primed ultra smooth panel and I can simply imagine the brushstrokes now .taking shape .. I will pay taxes and shipping in the US and like another more recent portrait example displayed here I am open to painting commissions as I just received one yesterday of a young woman admiring red flowers and from a gorgeous photo that I can certainly enhance .They will cherish it for sure as it is also about leaving a legacy too.
