Seeing that I started looking at other artists' self portraits at 12 years old it seemed natural that I started mine after that. This is from years later and I still have it in my collection. The brushstrokes and richness of the oil color create a modern self portrait yet still indebted to an artist like Courbet that I admired intensely at the time. And the striking quality of that green against the warm tones gives such a pleasure .....even when not looking at the work, but in my mind ! Oil on Canvas with very slight abrasions on the surface -----approximately 20" by 14 " Circa 1976 -1977
